Saint-Gobain exhibited at Composites Europe last week to meet with customers and showcase products from four of its Films & Fabrics brands: CHEMFAB® Performance Coated Fabrics Solutions, CHEMFILM® High Performance Films, CHR® Tape Adhesive Tapes and SHEERGARD® High Performance Radomes.
The primary focus for the CHEMFAB® brand was in the automotive market. CHEMFAB® fluoro fabrics are widely used as processing aids in the automotive industry to ensure higher quality and faster production. These fabrics are used as release liners and conveyor belts in lamination and press forming processes for composites manufacturing, and are also an excellent solution for use in rubber extrusion and curing processes.
In order to increase visibility in the industry, the CHEMFAB® team took part in Composite Europe’s guided tour for the automotive market. “The guided automotive tour brought around 30 people onto our stand, providing an impression of our composite release solutions. Visitors showed a big interest in our materials and the questions asked showed that technical capable release solutions are an important topic in the automotive market,” Michael Katzer, Business Development Manager.
CHEMFILM® High Performance Films have long been a staple in the aerospace industry. The primary objective for the CHEMFILM® team attending Composites Europe was to increase visibility on the brand, since these films are used in aircraft and are sold under distributors own brands.
Both CHEMFILM® and CHR® Tapes are also used as release surfaces in composite moulding. These films and tapes are used in the aerospace industry as composite structural components to facilitate composite molding or in mission critical turbine gasketing. Up to 50% of next generation aircraft are made using these advanced composites.
As for SHEERGARD®, the team was focused on presenting the innovative Sandwich technology for ground-based radomes. These rigid, self-supporting structures contain Transonite™ technology panels that incorporate 3D fibers to connect the inner and outer surfaces. These fibers help to prevent delamination of the outer structural skins from the center foam core, thereby retaining the structural integrity of the radome.
The show was a great opportunity for all involved to meet and showcase products from various composite applications.
